The animality of Valentine Cognet

In the heart of the Appart Renoma, Valentine Cognet (ESMOD Lyon)'s designs looked amazing. The shamanic silhouettes, made from unexpected materials - hair, wood, bone - hypnotised the spectators who came to admire the work of Fashion Design students from ESMOD Paris, Lyon and Roubaix campuses, brought together in the "Hors les murs" exhibition. Like a symbol of the event, these silhouettes - as scenic as they could be, yet full of roots - confronted people's points of view, sparking a fertile dialogue between allure and nature, rigour and abundance, vital strength and earthly charge. A master stroke exalted by a gripping mastery of image composition. Interview.

Planetesmod: What made you want to work in fashion?

Valentine Cognet: I've always been drawn to art from a very early age. However, I'm very grateful to my grandmother for giving me a taste for sewing.

How would you define your final year collection?

My collection hopefully reflects my identity and my attraction to folklore and animality.

What are your professional goals?

I'd like to design entire worlds, with a 360° vision.
