Dans le cadre du programme de 1ère année en Fashion Design, les étudiants sont amenés à créer un incontournable de notre garde-robe : le sweatshirt. Afin de corser l'exercice, la pédagogie impose de travailler sur des matières blanches, ceci afin de mieux apprécier les détails et le soin apporté à la fabrication du produit. Mais, depuis quelques années, ESMOD a ajouté une consigne supplémentaire : l'utilisation de matières upcyclées !
Loin d'être une contrainte, l'utilisation des matières recyclées ne fait que développer un peu plus encore les qualités créatives de nos étudiants qui finissent toujours par trouver un sens esthétique à toutes les matières qui leur tombent sous la main.

The eco-responsible white sweatshirts in 1st year
Within the first year curriculum of ESMOD’s Fashion Design program, the students are challenged to try their hand at making a staple in everyone’s wardrobe, the sweatshirt. In order to further enhance this exercise, the Department of Academics asks that all students work with only white fabric, making it easier to appreciate the fine details as well as the technical skill involved in creating each product. However, for a few years now, ESMOD has further boosted this project by adding the stipulation that students must also use upcycled materials.
Although this is a challenge, the use of recycled materials forces students to further develop their creativity and find a way to establish their own esthetic brand with the materials on hand.
